Enhanced Login Security is a new feature in CU Online which adds an additional layer of security beyond a Wings ID# and password. It's a free and easy way to help prevent identity theft and make your personal information even more secure online.
What is Enhanced Login Security?
This feature prevents identity theft by allowing us to identify you not only by your password and Wings ID#, but also your computer. After you enroll, log in to CU Online on your registered computer, and you will see no visible difference, and enhanced security is working in the background. If CU Online doesn't recognize your computer, you will be asked challenge questions to ensure that you are the one trying to log in.
How does Enhanced Login Security Work?
Enhanced Login Security works by placing an encrypted cookie in your computer’s Web browser. In the event someone should obtain your Wings ID# and password without your consent, the person would not be able to log in unless they were logging in from your registered computer or had the answers to your challenge questions
Forget Your Password? Reset it yourself!
When you enroll in Enhanced Login Security, you will also be setting up the Forgotten Password feature by default. This new feature allows you to log in to CU Online if you forget your password by answering your challenge questions. These are the same challenge questions you will be asked when you log in from a computer not registered with Enhanced Login Security.
Enrolling in Enhanced Login Security
Once in CU Online, you may enroll in Enhanced Login Security by clicking on “User Options” and then “Enhanced Login Security” from the list of options. You may also register additional computers from here. There is no limit to the number of computers you may register. We do not recommend enrolling public computers, such as those found in libraries. Also, be sure sto set up your "Challenge Questions", also under "User Options". If you do not set up your challenge questions, or if you have forgotten what you entered here, you will not be able to access CU Online from unregistered computers/browsers.
Enrollment in Enhanced Login Security will be required on February 26, 2008.
