Enrolling in and Using Enhanced Login Security

Wings Financial now requires CU Online users to use Enhanced Login Security.

After enrolling, your CU Online experience will be the same as always, and the enhanced security is working in the background. The only differences you will see will be when using an unregistered computer. There, you will need to enter your Wings ID# and Password, take the additional step of answering the challenge questions.

Removing Enhanced Login Security From a Computer

If you no longer plan to use a specific computer for CU Online access, you should remove Enhanced Login Security from that computer. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to CU Online with your Wings ID# and password.
  2. Click "User Options" in the left navigation bar
  3. Select "Enhanced Login Security"
  4. Select "Remove extra security to this computer" from the provided options
  5. After you submit the form on this screen, the encrypted cookie is removed from your computer, and Enhanced Login Security has been removed.

Reset Your Forgotten Password

When you enroll in Enhanced Login Security and establish “challenge questions”, you will also, by default, be setting up the Forgotten Password Feature. These two features use the same set of challenge questions to verify your identity. After you have established your challenge questions, follow these steps if you forget your password or are locked out of CU Online:

  1. Go to the CU Online Login Screen
  2. Click the “Forgotten Password” link
  3. Provide the answers to your challenge questions exactly as you entered them when you set them up.
  4. If you provided the correct answers, you should be logged in to CU Online
  5. Once logged in, change your password under the “User Options” section

Important note about changing passwords: Resetting your password also resets Enhanced Login Security. You will need to re-enroll when/if you change your password.

Tips for Using Enhanced Login Security

  1. If you use multiple browsers on the same computer, you will need to register each browser.
  2. You may register as many computers and browsers as you like, but we recommend not enrolling public computers such as those found in libraries.
  3. Enhanced Login Security uses an encrypted cookie placed on your computer to identify your computer. If you clear cookies, your computer will no longer be recognized, and you will need to re-register that computer. If you have Flash Player installed in your browser, a Flash Object will be installed in the background, which will retain your security settings, even if you clear cookies.

Enhanced Login Security offers an additional layer of security beyond your Wings ID# and password; it identifies the computers/browsers you use to access CU Online, and provides a secure way to log in to CU Online when you are not at one of these computers.

To enroll, log in to CU Online and follow these simple steps:

  1. Click "User Options" in the left navigation bar
  2. Select "Challenge Questions” and follow the on-screen instructions
About “Challenge Questions” - Challenge questions allow you to access your accounts from unregistered computers, or when you have forgotten your password. We recommend resetting your challenge questions, just in case you have set them up in the past, but may have forgotten the answers.
  1. Select "User Options" again, then select "Enhanced Login Security"
  2. Select "Add extra security to this computer" from the provided options.
Steps 3 & 4 should be repeated for each browser and/or computer you use to access CU Online regularly (except public computers). Otherwise, you will need to answer your challenge questions each time you log in to CU Online.
