Q: Why is Wings Requiring Enhanced Login Security for CU Online?
A: To combat identity theft, Federal Regulators now require financial institutions to make Enhanced Login Security mandatory for members using Internet Banking/CU Online. This feature is being required to further protect your accounts from potential unauthorized access.
Q: When Will Enhanced Login Security Be Required For Wings Members?
A: Enhanced Login security will be required for Wings Financial members using CU Online on Tuesday, February 26, 2008.
Q: What is Enhanced Login Security?
A: This security technology protects your accounts from unauthorized access. The system identifies you as the true owner of your accounts by recognizing not only your password and Wings ID#, but also your computer. If CU Online doesn't recognize your computer we'll ask you “challenge questions” (see next question) to ensure that you are the one trying to log in and prevent unauthorized access.
Q: What are Challenge Questions?
A: You may have already set up challenge questions in CU Online to use our “Forgotten Password” feature. These challenge questions will be presented to you when you log in to CU Online from a computer you have not registered for Enhanced Login Security. If you have not set up “Challenge Questions”, you may do this at any time under the “User Options” link in the left navigation bar within CU Online. Please note you will not be prompted to set up the challenge questions as part of the enrollment process for enhanced login security.
Q: How do I know if I am enrolled in Enhanced Login Security?
A: At the top of the Account Summary page in CU Online, a message appears just above your accounts noting whether or not the computer you are using is enrolled. The help link next to the text offers instructions on how to enroll in Enhanced Login Security.
Q: How does Enhanced Login Security protect me?
A: This feature allows us to know that it's really you logging into your account. We know that you are the one logging in because we recognize your computer as well as your login information. When logging in to a computer that we do not recognize, you will be asked for answers to your preset challenge questions; information that is known only to you.
Q: How does Enhanced Login Security work?
A: Enhanced Login security works by placing an encrypted cookie in your browser to identify your computer when you log in. Because of this, if you clear cookies from your browser regularly, you will need to re-enroll that computer whenever you clear cookies by going to User Options, then Enhanced Login Security. Register for Enhanced Login Security by following the on-screen instructions.
Q: Is Enhanced Login Security Required?
A: On February 26, 2008, all Wings members will be required to enroll in Enhanced Login Security for CU Online.
Q: How do I enroll in Enhanced Login Security?
A: Click “User Options” in the left navigation bar after logging in to CU Online. Then, select "Enhanced Login Security" from the list. Follow the prompts to enroll for the first time, or to register another computer/browser.
Note: If you use multiple Web browsers, you will need to enable Enhanced Login Security within each browser. For the purposes of this feature, each Web browser is treated as a separate computer. For instance, if you use Internet Explorer, Safari, and Mozilla Firefox browsers all on the same computer, you must enroll in Enhanced Login Security from each browser. If you log in to CU Online from a browser that has not been enrolled, you will have to answer your challenge questions in order to access CU Online.
Q: Why should I provide an email address during the registration process for this feature?
A: Having an email address on file within CU Online helps keep you informed in the event there is an attempt to change your CU Online password or other attempted unauthorized access. Also, providing your email address allows you to use the alerts feature to have an email sent to you when various events happen with your accounts. Click the “Alert” link in the left navigation bar to set up your alerts.
Q: What is the Forgotten Password Feature?
A: The Forgotten Password Feature allows CU Online users to access the system when locked out or they have forgotten their passwords. The Forgotten Password feature uses the same challenge questions that the Enhanced Login Security Feature uses. If you are locked out, you would be able to enter CU Online and change your password by answering the challenge questions.
Q: How many computers/browsers can I enroll?
A: You may enroll as many computers/browsers as you wish. However, we do not recommend enrolling public computers. When you log in to a public computer, simply answer your challenge questions, and will be allowed to access the system.
Q: Can I still log in to CU Online from anywhere?
A: Yes. Enhanced Login Security does not prevent you from logging in from any computers or browsers. If we do not recognize the computer you are using, you will be asked to answer your challenge questions that only you should know the answer to.
Q: How do I access a computer I have not registered?
A: Enter your log in information as usual in the CU Online Log In Screen. Since the computer is not enrolled, you must answer your challenge questions to enter the system. If you wish to register the computer, you may do so under the “User Options” section of CU Online.
Q: I share my computer with someone who also uses CU Online. Can we both still log in from the same computer?
A: Yes. You can use the same computer to log in individually; you will not be able to access each others information. This is because the secure cookie is linked only to your log-in information.
Q: I use a computer in the break room at work to access CU Online. Should I enroll that computer?
A: No. We do not recommend enrolling public computers. Instead, please answer the challenge questions when accessing CU Online from that location.
Q: I'm trying to get into CU Online and I'm being asked to answer a challenge question. Why?
You are attempting to log in to a computer that has not been enrolled in Enhanced Login Security. If this is a computer you have previously registered, the most likely problem is that you cleared the cookies from your browser. If you have recently cleared cookies, you will need to re-enroll that computer by going to the "User Options" section of CU Online. Any time you clear cookies, you will need to re-enroll.
Q: I'm at a friend's house trying to log in to CU Online and it's asking me for an answer to my challenge question, but I haven't forgotten my password.
A: This is normal for a computer that has not been enrolled in Enhanced Login Security. Simply answer the questions to access CU Online. The questions and answers you set up work for Enhanced Login Security and Forgotten Passwords.
Q: I'm trying to log in to CU Online from a friends house and I can't remember the answer to my challenge questions. What do I do?
Call a member services representative at 1 800 692-2274 to have Enhanced Login Security canceled so you may log in to CU Online without answering the challenge questions. Once you're back at your regular computer, you will need to re-enroll.
Q: I have logged in to CU Online from a computer I have not registered in Enhanced Login Security, and it's not asking me my challenge questions as I expected. Why?
A: You may have reset your password recently. Resetting your password will reset the security feature, and you must re-enroll.
Q: What should I do if I no longer want to use a computer to access CU Online that has been enrolled in Enhanced Login Security?
A: If you no longer plan to use a specific computer for CU Online access, you should remove the extra security protection from that computer. Log in to CU Online from the computer you wish to remove the feature from. Click on “User Options” and click on “Enhanced Login Security” from the list of options. Then you will be presented the option of removing the extra security.
