How often are dividends paid on my High-Yield Checking account?

Dividends are paid monthly.

Dividends are calculated based on the average daily balance in the account. If requirements are met, a higher rate will be paid for the first $25,000 and a lower rate will be paid for any amounts over $25,000.

The average daily balance is calculated by adding the balance in the account for each day of the period and dividing that figure by the number of days in the period.

Is a High-Yield Checking account eligible for Wings Member Rewards?

High-Yield Checking accounts are not eligible for Wings Members Rewards. If you currently have a First Class Checking account and want to change it to a High-Yield Checking account, you need to use your points before making the change.

  • Must have 15 net PIN or signature point-of-sale debit card transactions over $5 in the 34 calendar days preceding the last business day of the month. The net is calculated by counting the number of PIN and signature point-of-sale debit purchase transactions over $5 and subtracting any PIN or signature point-of-sale debit return transactions processed during that period.
What is considered a debit card transaction for High-Yield Checking?

A transaction is a PIN or signature point-of-sale purchase of over $5 in the 34 calendar days preceding the last business day of the month.

Contactless Cards

How can I prevent my contactless card from being charged accidentally?

Be sure that only one contactless device (say, your contactless card or mobile-payment-enabled phone) is near the terminal at one time.

How does contactless technology compare to Apple Pay?

Most contactless payments, including contactless Visa cards, Google Pay and Apple Pay, use the same NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.

Samsung Pay, however, works with both NFC technology and MST (Magnetic Secure Transition) technology, which can be used anywhere you can swipe.

What if a retailer doesn’t offer contactless payment?

You can still pay by inserting or swiping your card as usual.

Credit Score

Do I need to enroll (or re-enroll) to receive my score?
Answer: Yes. Because Wings' credit score provider changed from FICO® to VantageScore®, you will need to enroll and agree to the user terms – even if you were previously signed up for credit score reporting through Wings.

How often will my credit score be updated?

Credit score reports will be updated on a quarterly basis, in March, June, September and December.

If my credit score changes, will the rate on my loan(s) change?

No. A change in your credit score will not impact existing credit accounts. However, it could influence the rates you are offered on future applications for credit.

What makes up my VantageScore?

Credit scoring models weigh many different factors, including the mix of types of accounts, the number of accounts you have and the length of time you've had them.

Where can I see my credit score?

First, enroll in credit score reporting. Once you have enrolled:

  • On the Wings Mobile app, tap "Credit Score" on the side menu.
  • In CU Online, select “Member Services” on the top menu and then under “Benefits,” select "Credit Score."
Why is my credit score different with VantageScore?

It's important to recognize that the various scoring models use slightly different criteria to determine your credit score. Newer models like VantageScore 4.0 are designed on the most recent timeframe and represent current consumer and lending practices. More data is incorporated to give a more complete picture of your credit standing. Also:

  • Lenders use a variety of third-party models, as well as customized models. Monitor your score, but realize that it may not be the same model or score used on a future loan application.
  • If your score declined to an extent that you think lenders will offer you poorer terms and higher rates:
    • Examine the reason codes provided with your score to understand which behaviors are causing the decline.
    • Consider using a credit monitoring tool that provides recommendations for improving your score.
    • Check your credit reports for accuracy.
Will getting the scores through Wings affect my credit score?

No. The reports pulled for this are called “soft” inquiries. Soft inquiries are all credit inquiries where your credit is NOT being reviewed by a prospective lender.

Credit Unions

What is a Credit Union and how do they differ from banks?

A Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned and member-operated financial cooperative. We offer members comprehensive financial services at very competitive rates and terms. And, we do it with the personal attention our members deserve.

Unlike banks, credit unions are member-owned financial cooperatives; so when you join Wings Credit Union, your initial $5 deposit to open a Share Savings account establishes your membership and makes you a part-owner.

Since there are no outside bank stockholders to satisfy, Wings passes on the savings to you in the form of lower mortgage and loan rates, fewer service fees and higher yields on savings and checking.

Custodial Share Savings Accounts

Do Custodial Share Savings accounts earn dividends?

Yes, Custodial Share Savings accounts earn quarterly dividends.

What do I need to open a Custodial Share Savings account?

A parent or guardian opening a Custodial Share Savings account will need to provide the minor child's Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number.

What happens to a Custodial Share Savings account when the child is no longer a minor?

Once the child reaches majority age, it is the responsibility of the custodian to close the account and transfer funds to the child.

Who can make transactions on a Custodial Share Savings account?

Either the minor child or custodian may make deposits, but only the custodian may withdraw funds.

Debit Cards

Can I use my debit card while traveling internationally?

Yes, you may use your Wings Visa® Debit Card, but we cannot guarantee that it will work for every transaction, as international merchants use varying forms of payment acceptance.

Our recommendation would be to use our Wings Member Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card or the Wings Member Cash Rewards Visa Signature Credit Card. These cards comes with built-in chip technology allowing for enhanced fraud protection and more flexibility while traveling internationally, as well as no foreign transaction fees

How do I change my personal identification number (PIN) for my debit card?

To change your PIN, login to CU Online and select "Manage My Cards". visit one of our convenient branch locations, or change it at any Wings ATM.

(Please note that in order to change your PIN at an ATM, it must be a Wings ATM.)

Your PIN acts a signature when you use your debit card for point of sale transactions and to withdraw cash from an ATM.

For security reasons, you should keep your PIN number to yourself, when the number is used we think that you made the transaction.

If you forgot your PIN you can select a new PIN with "Manage My Cards" in CU Online or by visiting any branch location (photo ID required for security security purposes).

How do I order a new debit card?

Call Member Services at 1 (800) 692-2274 to have one ordered for you.

No.

How do I enroll my Wings Member Rewards Account in Shop with Points?
Amazon will check to see if your Wings Visa® Debit card, Wings Visa Platinum card or Wings Member Rewards Visa Signature® Card is eligible for Shop with Points. If it is eligible, Amazon will automatically enroll your card, allowing you to see and use your rewards points on Amazon at checkout. How do I make changes to my travel itinerary?

Please contact the airline, hotel or car rental merchant directly for any changes to your travel itinerary.

How do I use Wings Member Rewards points to pay for an order?
First, checkout through your Shopping Cart. Next, select your eligible Wings card as the payment method and choose the amount of Member Rewards points you want to apply to the order. If you don’t have enough Member Rewards points to cover the cost of your entire order, you may use your points to pay for a portion of your order and use the Wings card from which the rewards are applied or an Amazon.com Gift Card to pay for the remainder of your order. The rewards you apply to an eligible order will be deducted from your order total and displayed as “Rewards Points” in the Order Summary. Your Member Rewards points balance will reflect the order once it has been placed. At this time, Member Rewards points can be redeemed for online orders at Amazon.com only and are not redeemable from Amazon.com over the phone.

How soon will I receive my statement credit for a travel booking?

Your statement credit will be processed within 2 business days of the day on which your travel reservation was booked.

If I “top-up” on a Travel booking, do I get points or cash-back rewards for the top-up amount?

Yes, the top-up amount charged to your credit or debit card will be treated as a normal purchase and can earn points according to the standard eligible transaction requirements.

If I cancel my trip or receive a refund, how soon will I get my points back?

When canceling a booking or requesting a refund for a portion of your travel booking, you will work directly with the travel merchant, as your booking is associated with your Wings credit or debit card. The timing of point refunds will depend on how quickly the travel merchant processes and issues your refund.

What if I no longer want to use Wings Member Rewards points to shop at Amazon.com?
If you no longer want to use Wings Member Rewards points to shop at Amazon.com, you can unenroll your card from the Shop with Points program under “Account & Lists” and then “Your Account”, located near the top right corner of this page (you must be logged into your Amazon.com account to unenroll). Note that even if you unenroll your card from the Shop with Points program, you will still be able to use your Wings card to pay for purchases at Amazon.com.
What is Shop with Points at Amazon.com?
Shop with Points at Amazon.com offers you the ability to redeem your Wings Member Rewards points to pay for all or part of your eligible orders, including tax and shipping. To participate in Shop with Points at Amazon.com, you’ll need to have an enrolled card.
Which Wings cards are eligible for Shop with points?
At this time, eligible cards include the Wings Member Rewards Visa Signature® card.
Why do I have to provide a Credit or Debit card for travel?

For the best travel experience, it is required that your booking be tied to your Wings credit or debit card. This will allow you to work directly with the airline, hotel or rental car merchant if you need to alter or cancel your itinerary. Once the booking has been completed, Wings will issue a statement credit back to your account in the equivalent amount to the points you redeemed.

How do I redeem points for a reward?

It's easy!

  1. Log into CU Online.
  2. After logging into CU Online, click on the "Rewards" link in the upper-right.
  3. Select "Redeem Points" (the button located under your points total) which will take you to the Wings Member Rewards page.

From there, you can browse rewards and redeem points for your choice of travel, popular gift cards and name brand merchandise through the Member Rewards site.

Please note: Ensure you have popups allowed for CU Online before clicking "Redeem Rewards". After clicking, a popup will attempt to open that will bring you to the Rewards site.

How often can I redeem my points for rewards?
You can redeem your points as often as you'd like, as long as you have enough points in your account.

How much of a down payment will I need?

Down payment requirements may vary by loan type. Learn more about our different mortgage loan options.

What are your current mortgage rates?
Current mortgage rates are listed here.
What is escrow?

An escrow account is a common feature of a mortgage loan. An escrow account makes it easier to pay necessary expenses on your property – like taxes and insurance – by incorporating them into your monthly mortgage payment, rather than paying them in lump sums.

What is Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI)?

PMI is typically required if your down payment is less than 20% of the home's value. It is designed to protect the lender in case you stop making payments on your loan.

NCUA Insurance

How is it different than FDIC?

The FDIC is the federal regulatory body overseeing banks while NCUA oversees credit unions. Both insure the deposits of individuals up to $250,000.

Is my money safe?
Yes, credit union deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) per individual up to $250,000. The $250,000 in coverage applies to each share owner, per insured credit union, for each account ownership category. You can also use the NCUA’s Share Insurance Estimator to calculate insurance coverage.
What is NCUA?

Created by the U.S. Congress in 1970, the National Credit Union Administration is an independent federal agency that insures deposits at federally insured credit unions, protects the members who own credit unions, and charters and regulates federal credit unions. Personal Tellers

Is a conversation with a Personal Teller private?

A conversation with a Personal Teller is just as private as if a member were talking to a teller in the branch, but for greater privacy there is a handset.

Is there a fee to use a PTM?

No, using a PTM is the same as going to a teller window inside a branch. There are no additional fees.

What cash denominations does the PTM/ATM disperse?

PTMs can disperse cash in 1s, 5s, 20s, 50s or 100s. ATMs will only disperse in 5s, 20s, 50s or 100s.

What does the PTM do?

The PTM has a camera for face-to-face transactions, a touch screen so members can enter information, a scanner to scan ID, audio via handset, earbud or speaker, receipt printer, cash and check acceptors, and it functions as a regular ATM when Personal Tellers are not available.

What is a PTM?

A Personal Teller Machine looks like an ATM, but a member can have real-time, face-to-face conversation with a Wings Personal Teller. A video camera on each side allows the member to interact with the Personal Teller located at our corporate offices. Sound is carried through speakers, a handset, or an optional headphone jack on the PTM.

What transactions can a member complete using a PTM?

Members can do just about every transaction they can do with a teller inside one of our branches. Members can make deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cash checks, make loan payments and more!

PTMs are unable to dispense change. If a check is cashed that includes change, the change will be deposited directly into the member’s account.

Why is Wings using Personal Teller Machines?

Wings is dedicated to putting technology to work to create a better banking experience for members. Expanding our service by adding Personal Teller Machines provides greater convenience, just as when we introduced Online Banking and Mobile Apps.

Wings Voice ID

Can I opt out of Voice ID?

Voice ID is a streamlined and secure way to receive service over the phone. However, if you prefer to opt out, you can do so at any time.

Can my voiceprint be stolen?

No, because it's not a recording. Voiceprints are a mathematical representation of the biometric and behavioral features of your voice; a series of numbers that would not allow a hacker to reconstruct your actual voice.

How do I start using Voice ID?

There's nothing specific you need to do. The next time you call Member Services at 1 (800) 692-2274, we'll create your voiceprint while we're assisting you.

How many voiceprints can be on my account?

Each member will have one voiceprint associated with their account profile. If you have a joint account (say with your spouse), you will each have your own voiceprint.

What if my voiceprint isn't recognized?

If for any reason we're unable to verify your identity through your voiceprint (for example, if there's background noise), we will verify you using alternative methods.

What is a voiceprint?

A voiceprint is a set of traits unique to your voice pattern, created from more than 100 physical and behavioral voice characteristics, including pitch, accent, and the shape/size of your vocal tract.

Will it still work if my voice changes due to a cold?

Generally, yes, the slight changes due to a cold or illness won't interfere with Voice ID. In more extreme instances, we will verify you using alternative methods until you feel better.
