Loan Payment Relief for Members Impacted by COVID-19

Wings has proudly worked with each of our members in times of need much like we’re seeing today. Rather than a one size fits all approach, we want to find solutions that meet members’ unique needs, while providing multiple ways for members to request assistance.

We know many members prefer a self-service option, so we recently expanded the ability for our members to request assistance via CU Online or Mobile Banking using the Skip-a-Pay feature, and we’ve temporarily removed the Skip-a-Pay fee.

Wings members with a first mortgage loan can use the Skip-a-Pay feature to request assistance, too, but the process will involve a representative from Wings contacting you to explain the process for a payment forbearance. Mortgage borrowers impacted by COVID-19 are generally eligible for up to six months of payment forbearance once they complete a very brief agreement with Wings.

I’m concerned about making my mortgage payment. What can I do?

Mortgage loan payments are not eligible for our Skip-a-Pay program, but you may use this feature to request payment assistance in CU Online and Mobile Banking. Wings is following all Fannie Mae guidance, as well as provisions of the Federal CARES Act for mortgage payment assistance. Fannie Mae uses the term Payment Forbearance to describe this type of assistance. Deferrals/forbearance of mortgage payments may be made up to six months, and after that, we would work with you to modify loan terms. A Wings representative will discuss the process with you in detail.

    What is Skip-a-Pay?

Wings has offered Skip-a-Pay for many years for members who need a little help from time to time. In the current environment with COVID-19 impacting so many, we have expanded that program with NO fee for most consumer loans and credit cards. This is a self-service option in CU Online and Mobile Banking to skip your payments.

You may only skip one payment per loan per 365 days. The original monthly loan payment amount will be due in the billing cycle immediately following the skipped payment. Requests must be received at least 5 business days prior to payment due date. Other restrictions may apply. Skipping payments may significantly extend the term of your loan. Interest will continue to accrue during the skipped pay period. If you have Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) you are eligible for only 5 skipped payments during the life of your loan. More than 5 may result in a deduction from a full claim amount in the future.
