How can I open a First Class Checking account?

You can open an account online or in one of our branch locations.

How often are dividends paid on my High-Yield Checking account?

Dividends are paid monthly (for example: January 1 – January 31).

Dividends will begin to accrue on the business day of deposit. Dividends are calculated by the average daily balance method which applies a periodic rate to the average daily balance in the account for the period. The average daily balance is calculated by adding the balance in the account for each day of the period and dividing that figure by the number of days in the period.

Is a High-Yield Checking account eligible for Wings Member Rewards?

The High Yield Checking account is not eligible for Wings Members Rewards. If you are currently enrolled in Wings Member Rewards, all points must be used before your account is retitled.

Please refer to our Savings Rates page for the most up-to-date rates at this time.

How does contactless technology compare to Apple Pay?

Can Wings assist my small business affected by COVID-19?

Wings does not currently offer SBA lending. However, we recognize many of our members are seeking assistance from recently announced relief programs. We are actively researching ways to offer these programs, but in the meantime, here are several resources where you can get more information.

The SBA has announced two new programs to assist business owners who are impacted by COVID, the EIDL (Economic Injury Disaster Loan) and the PPP (Paycheck Protection Program).

EIDL is provided directly through the SBA, applications may be submitted here: https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/loans/coronavirus-relief-options/economic-injury-disaster-loan-emergency-advance

PPP loans are available through current SBA Approved lenders. Information on the program, and a link to SBA Approved Lenders can be found here: https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/top-priorities/cares-act/assistance-for-small-businesses

We are encouraging business owners to apply quickly for these programs, as funds are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.

For members in Minnesota, resources are available through the Minnesota Department of Economic Development: https://mn.gov/deed/newscenter/covid/

If you have further questions, please contact CommercialServices@wingsfinancial.com

We are closely monitoring the situation. As soon as we believe that we can reopen our branch lobbies safely, we will do so.

Why is Wings changing branch operations?

The spread of the COVID-19 virus has caused concern all over the world. Federal and State government officials have said one of the best ways to prevent the spread of this virus is to limit face-to-face contact with others and to practice “social distancing”. To protect the safety of both our members and our employees, we made the decision to close our branch lobbies and provide service exclusively through our Drive-Up lanes for the time being.

COVID-19 Loan Relief

Can Wings help with my small business relief needs?

Many businesses are experiencing financial difficulties due to COVID-19. We are committed to finding a solution that will assist businesses in accessing the SBA Disaster Assistance programs.

Wings is working with Central Minnesota Credit Union, an SBA preferred lender, to provide businesses access to a variety of SBA programs, including the Paycheck Protection Program.

If you are interested in the SBA PPP through Central Minnesota Credit Union, we encourage you to apply at: https://mycmcu.org/relief-business.html

You can find more information on the PPP, EIDL Loan, and other SBA relief efforts here: https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/top-priorities/cares-act/assistance-for-small-businesses

We are encouraging business owners to apply quickly for these programs, as funds are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.

For members in Minnesota, resources are available through the Minnesota Department of Economic Development: https://mn.gov/deed/newscenter/covid/

With Apple Pay™, instead of using your actual credit and debit card numbers when you add your card, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored. And when you make a purchase, the Device Account Number alongside a transaction-specific dynamic security code is used to process your payment. So your actual credit or debit card numbers are never shared by Apple with merchants or transmitted with payment.

In addition, paying with Apple Pay is private as the cashier never sees your name, card numbers or security code.

If my phone with Apple Pay is stolen, can anyone use the phone for a purchase?

No, the password to access the phone is independent and in addition to the authentication required for Apple Pay™.

Cardholders must set up a pass-code, PIN, biometric identification, or other comparable authentication mechanism enabled by Apple to control access to the Apple Payment Platform on an Enabled Device.

What device requirements are there to use Google Pay?

You will need an Android device running Kit Kat (4.4) or higher. Your phone also needs to support near field communication and host card emulation.

Will Getting the scores through Wings affect my FICO® Score?

No. The reports pulled for this are called “soft” inquiries. Soft inquiries are all credit inquiries where your credit is NOT being reviewed by a prospective lender.

Credit Unions

What is a Credit Union and how do they differ from banks?

A Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned and member-operated financial cooperative. We offer members comprehensive financial services at very competitive rates and terms. And, we do it with the personal attention our members deserve.

Unlike banks, credit unions are member-owned financial cooperatives; so when you join Wings Financial Credit Union, your initial deposit to open a share account establishes your membership and makes you a part-owner. (This initial $5 deposit secures your membership and cannot be removed, but is not subject to fees, overdrafts, etc).

Since there are no outside bank stockholders to satisfy, Wings passes on the savings to you in the form of lower mortgage and loan rates, fewer service fees and higher yields on savings and checking.

Personal Tellers

Is a conversation with a Personal Teller private?

A conversation with a Personal Teller is just as private as if a member were talking to a teller in the branch, but for greater privacy there is a handset.

Is there a fee to use a PTM?

No, using a PTM is the same as going to a teller window inside a branch. There are no additional fees.

What cash denominations does the PTM/ATM disperse?

PTMs can disperse cash in 1s, 5s, 20s, 50s or 100s. ATMs will only disperse in 5s, 20s, 50s or 100s.

What does the PTM do?

The PTM has a camera for face-to-face transactions, a touch screen so members can enter information, a scanner to scan ID, audio via handset, earbud or speaker, receipt printer, cash and check acceptors, and it functions as a regular ATM without deposits when Personal Tellers are not available.

What is a PTM?

A Personal Teller Machine looks like an ATM, but a member can have real-time, face-to-face conversation with a Wings Personal Teller. A video camera on each side allows the member to interact with the Personal Teller located at our corporate offices. Sound is carried through speakers, a handset, or an optional headphone jack on the PTM.

What transactions can a member complete using a PTM?

Members can do just about every transaction they can do with a teller inside one of our branches. Members can make deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cash checks, make loan payments and more!

PTMs are unable to dispense change. If a check is cashed that includes change, the change will be deposited directly into the member’s account.

Why is Wings using Personal Teller Machines?

Wings is dedicated to putting technology to work to create a better banking experience for members. Expanding our service by adding Personal Teller Machines provides greater convenience, just as when we introduced Online Banking and Mobile Apps.
